Chances that the dish still works is not the best. Besides the equipment there have been provider changes. You could spend some money and still not have a working system. You might get lucky and have a working SD system.
The dish and controller models should help you determine what you have.
If the dish is DTV forget it as there are reliable reports that they are dropping SD transmission in 2019.
Consider a HD TV and dish.
