I have a Pathway X2 that I have been using for 2-3 years now with no issues. I use it with one receiver, and connect it to an outside TV for sports and races.If we ever wanted to watch TV inside, I just moved the receiver, connections, etc. inside and watched in the trailer.This meant going through the entire set-up process before we could watch inside. Sometimes taking 10-15 minutes to find all the satellites and acquire the signal.This year I have decided to buy another VIP211z and mount it inside the trailer, and use the 2nd port on the X2 for inside TV viewing.I have read the instructions several times, but I am wondering if there are any "real world" tips or tricks using the Pathway X2 that you folks could share.Any steps to make both receivers hook up and work perfectly would be great. The instructions basically say to hook up the primary and then after it is setup to go ahead and run the same process on the secondary receiver.Does this sound right, or is there a better/easier process?Thanks for any advice or tips,Jerry

The X2 requires you to point to the 72.7 satellite (not good for Western US) for both receivers to be able to watch any channel without conflict trying to point to 1 of 3 satellites. However, there is NO Network programming on 72.7. If you want to be able to watch Network programming then you will need to use the signal tuner option and do the check switch routine on the master receiver and then, using the same master cable do a check switch routine on the 2nd receiver. Now, the master receiver will select which satellite you are watching base upon the channel selected and the 2nd receiver will be able to watch any channel broadcast from that same satellite.

I was hoping you see the message and have some info to share. I think I am still confused on the setup routine. When I setup the master receiver now, it takes me to a setup screen that automatically goes through the entire process. It does this each time I remove the coax. Using your method above, will it not just put me in a loop of resetting the receiver over and over? The way I follow your instructions is this:1. Setup the master receiver with the main coax. Once it establishes connection and I have channels, disconnect the main coax.2. Use the main coax to set up the secondary receiver. Once it establishes connection and I have channels, which coax goes back to the main receiver?3. Once they are disconnected from the setup/main coax, won't they prompt me for a setup routine all over again since they have lost power? Watching the same channel on both TV's is not a problem for us. We are usually watching a game or race, so we would want to see it both inside and outside. If I can get them both going, maybe we would watch the news inside in the mornings, and then games during the day inside or outside. I went back and read the manual (what a concept!) and it appears they have changed things a bit since I was involved with them.It looks like you now connect both receiver but do not turn on the 2nd receiver until the 1st receiver setup is complete. Then....."After completing setup on the main receiver, power on the secondary receiver. If using a new receiver, you will be guided through the setup by the Installation Wizard; follow the on-screen steps to complete setup. If using a receiver that is currently active or has been used previously, you will need to complete setup by doing a Check Switch test. To access the receiver menu for running a Check Switch test, follow the steps under “Accessing the Receiver Menu"As I recall the Dish software that allows the X2 to operate correctly must be set each time the units are powered off (or disconnected) but that's the Dish software so it's not anything Winegard has any control over.

Yep, That's the same instructions I have. I was hoping you had stumbled on a secret setup that would work wonders. I have my system set up at my house right now, and my 2nd receiver will be here Wednesday. I think I will turn it on and try a 2nd TV and see what it does before I take it all to the trailer. I wonder if it is going to default to 72.7 as soon as I tell it I'm doing a 2 receiver setup? I am in Georgia and we mostly use it here and Alabama. We always find 110, 119, and 129. I guess the best thing to do is let it do its thing and see what happens. I will be sure and let the Forum know what happens.Thanks,Jerry

It will if you tell it to do a 2 receiver setup. However, you can just do the single tuner setup, pick EA or WA and still connect the 2nd receiver.

95% success!!!!!!

This morning I hooked everything back up and had complete failure on the new equipment.

Following Bill's advice, I changed my settings to point the dish to satellite 72 with only the primary receiver. After it found service and was working properly, I connected the new receiver to another TV, and then to the dish.

After powering it up, I was greeted with a screen that said "the system has encountered a problem and is checking your switch". It then went through a 38 step process that took almost 20-30 minutes.

After that was complete, it acquired a signal, downloaded a guide, and the next thing you know I'm watching TV on 2 sets!!!

Of course, I'm still on satellite 72, which does not work best for us.

At least I know the receiver is in the system properly and working properly.

Now to point and tweak the system to the satellites I want and see what happens.

I had the same issue, The girl I finally found told me that I needed to have a clear view to the West satellite’s, that is the only way to get them to update...

After 3-4 days, and almost 16 hours total on the phone, i got it all working...

Call this number - 1-800-970-7959 . . The tech I had was from Minnesota..

To activate a brand new receiver I like to point to 72.7 if you are not out West as all of the programming and activation signals come from that one satellite. Maybe that would help. If you have a home dish antenna, this is the best place to get a new receiver up and running.

My new receiver showed up today finally.

I set it up to use as the main receiver only. I did not hook up my original receiver for the activation and testing purposes.

I called Dish, went through the activation process and paid the additional fee for a 2nd receiver.

They guy told me to wait a few minutes and it should activate itself and be ready to use.

Sure enough, about 3 minutes later the screen changes and says my receiver is being activated. Please wait and be ready to aim the dish when finished.

After a few minutes the aiming menu showed up....then the problems started.

I pick one receiver, pick my state, and then it starts to scan. Only it scans for about 3 seconds before telling me it can not locate any satellites. Over and over and over.

4 different Tech support guys, about 3 hours on the phone, and they tell me they don't know whats wrong, but maybe the receiver is bad....

I gave up and will try again in the morning. I'm going to hook it up tomorrow as a second receiver and see if it gets anything.

Well, UPS was scheduled to deliver my new receiver today so I could set up another TV in the garage and test it all out.

Unfortunately, UPS has let my package bounce around Atlanta all day without a delivery.

If it shows up tomorrow, I will hook it up and see what sort of steps I can take to get both TV's working, using my Eastern Arc satellites.

One problem with the X2 and two TV's at the moment is that Dish has moved a large number of the most popular channels from 72.7 to 61.5. The reasons for the move has not been made public, but it does mess up the X2's two TV's watching different channels setup. At least until they do a software update.

This was my first year with mine and I was so frustrated that I almost returned it... When I first get to where I am going, I set up the Pathway X2, plug the main coaxle, then the secondary coaxle. I then go inside and turn on the main TV.. choose 2 receivers, the state, and EA, or West..
