PC - RAM ?

Am building a new desktop 'Fractal Define C' box - but have no clue which RAM (16gb = 2-8gb) and am looking at G. Skill Jigsaw and Kingston ... can anyone comment on these two or a better RAM for this set-up

Intel Core i7-7700, ASUS Strixs z270E, Dual SSD 500g Samsung Evo, GTX 1060,

I know, looks like a gaming setup, but it's not - it's pushing two monitors (Ben Q SW2700PT and ASUS PA 248Q ... for developing high-end photo and art files for large/scale prints ... so, limited video, if that matters...

Sales folks says Crucial is best -- but, it's a salesman, selling me what he has in stock - so I'd like an RV.net tech opinion instead :)
Thx ... M44 :)
  • Its been my experience that ram is ram. Get the cheapest you can get from a reputable seller like Newegg or Provantage. Make sure to match the specs recommended by your system.

Of course there's caveats to everything. Don't mix old and new, don't mix brands, don't mix specs.

With that high spec CPU and your intended workload I would recommend 32 GB. DDR4 ram is dirt cheap right now. If your builder wants a fortune for ram call them out on it or buy the minimum and go to Newegg.
  • I've had excellent luck with G.Skill memory in a couple of gaming computers. I can't say the same for Kingston or Crucial. I used to think Crucial was very good memory but I got a stick that cause system crashes for no reason. Kingston has failed for me with a thumb drive and an SD card. So I just figure I'll stick with the brand that works with no issues.
