Mine is pretty much a brick sans internet. I can access files on a thumb drive, but there's not much I can do with them.
Most of my 'work' is text composition on a simple .txt file. There is no text editor I'm aware of on my CB, so I go online to a board like this one and use its Reply box for formatting. Copy/paste to wherever it needs to go.
You may want to google up Chromebook stuff.. there may be a whole lot I don't know.
I really like mine. Instant bootup, syncs with all my other google devices, no constant updates. (Well there may be that I don't know about). Since I have internet with me at all times, I find it works just fine.
