Portable Blu-Ray Options/Suggestions needed

Question

We have a portable DVD player but recently our DVD purchases include Blu-Ray discs which we can play at home and can't play them on the portable unit.

I have a laptop running Windows 8.1

Would like to be able to watch some of the newer Blu-Ray discs while camping when weather is too cold or raining.

Does anyone use an external Blu-Ray/DVD player? Should we just get a portable unit instead? Can't seem to find one reasonable priced. We do not have a regular TV in our van so that is not an option.

Anyone have some suggestions?

You can buy an external USB drive that will play BluRay for about $40.

We bought an LG media player for less than $50.00 at Wal-mart, it plays DVD, Blu Ray and has a USB port so you can play movies. I plug in my external HD and I've got about a hundred movies in the can.
