Not sure how the Winegard, etc works, but I used the Tailgater for a while and went to a portable tripod type dish because I am a channel surfer as well. Changing the channel sometimes causes the Tailgater to move to look for whatever satellite a particluar channel is on, and can only lock on to one satellite at a time. The tripod antenna does not need to move as it picks up all satellites at once. I keep the Tailgater as a backup in case something should happen to the tripod.
