Power to Satellite Antenna

Question

This next week we are going to be camping at a location where my Winegard satellite antenna will have to be just about 100 ft from the trailer..  In the past when I have had this distance, I was able to park the truck next to the antenna to get the 12v needed for the antenna to find the sat.  This time that cannot be the case so I need to make a 50ft 12v extension cord with cigarette lighter socket / plug  on it.. QUESTION:  what type of wire would work best to avoaid line loss over this distance?  stranded for sure but speaker wire, zip cord or what?  what ga?

I suggest that the bigger the better.  12 or 14 would probably work.  Take voltmeter and measure loss.

Why not get a 12 volt battery or park a vehicle there and charge the batt. at night.50 foot of wire will cost a small fortune.

This should be available from most RV dealers selling Winegard portable dome style antennas.

What make you think he has 120v ? Or do you invert at the RV end. Not very efficient in my book. Grab your 12v power pack and be done w/ it.
