Price Match

In the latest catalog, matching low prices was mentioned. I am considering a Winegard Trav'ler installed by CW. I have found it online for less than the $1799 price at CW. Will you match the lower price?
  • Seattle Lion,

Just for your information, here on the east coast we have been paying $100-$110 per hour labor rate for years now, to all different RV shops, not just CW.

$100.00 is not "inflated," at least by east coast standards.
  • The $39.99 install "special" turns out to be $149 for the Trav'ler SWM3. The Camping World price for members is $1799, Amazon for $1498.11 (11????). My FW is prewired for the Trav'ler so install is a matter of screwing the dish to the roof and plugging it in to the preinstalled cables. I will do that myself. At Camping World's inflated labor rate of $100 an hour (here in WA), that translates to 90 minutes of work to mount the dish, plus they quoted additional materials cost.

By and large, the Good Sam price at CW tends to be higher than most other places for pretty much everything I have bought to date. I like CW staff and the store is great to visit. I have bought a lot of stuff there. However, every time I go to make a major purchase, the price is so far out of line that I just can't afford to buy. As an Amazon Prime member, I get free 2 day shipping. Every online order I have made to CW has taken at least a week to receive. Even though I am on record as a Good Sam member, I generally end up paying freight. It feels like every "special" or GS privilege has so many strings attached that it costs me more than I expect.

Of course CW needs to make money, but frankly I am losing interest in both the Good Sam Club and CW because I always feel slightly ripped off every time I deal with either. Plus, I had to call the customer service department to stop the endless junk mail and email. Having done that last summer, I just received a CW catalog in the mail. This is a violation of the law and my agreement with GS and CW not to send me junk mail.

I like this forum and I like the concept behind Good Sam. However, it seems that Good Sam is no more than a "discount card" for CW. There are some real needs in the expanding RV community for some serious services, like reporting RV reliability, owner surveys, etc. Good Sam would be the best organization to do this if it weren't a for-profit part of the CW empire.
  • But is it cheaper after you pay the installation fee?
  • Of course they don't have a price matching option. If this is for a satellite dish, you can find them so much cheaper elsewhere.
  • Hello Seattle Lion,

Thank you for your inquiry! The $39 install is only applicable on items purchased in store, and also, we do not have a price matching option unfortunately. I apologize. If there is anything else you need, please let me know. Thank you and have a good day!

  • CW says they'll install it for $39. The price difference might be worth it.
