Undid all the stuff, pulled the rig out so batwing had a clear westward shot at BR ststions 15 mi away, and (silly me) hoping for Lafayette 70 mi away.
Amplified batwing/wingman was worse at night in clear shot than in day fully down, behind house and under aluminum cover. The RS amp helped bring in maybe 2 channels, like in day. Mossed about1/2 all BR stations either way.
I always knew this Winegard stuff was flawed – amped and wingmaned - no matter what some big shots have claimed on these threads. It is weak on lower channels.
I put the pictured fractal antenna (concrete tie wires stapled to press board) in the windshield pointed in the same direction, though 6 ft lower than batwing.
W/o RS amp, it caught all but one BR station, and w/ RS amp, it got ‘em all.
If someone knows whether the USB tuner is really inferior to a good TV, that info would help, here. Lord knows I’ve asked this question often.
