This is where the piece of coax I see exposed goes into the silver/gray metal base? I always wonder how the antenna turns with the cable up there.
Not too long back I worked on the connectors of the wall plate and amp power source, so they should be OK.
No! That end of the cable inside there is no way to check. The other end of the cable strings though the antenna supports and connects to the big wing. The there is a weather cover that you pull back to check the coaxial cable connection. The end can get dirty and removing and reconnecting helps clean the connection
