Since the change-over many stations are adding more sub-channels (i.e. 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, etc.). You will find that your old channel 5 (ABC) might now be also carrying (CW or another network) on 5.2 digital and (ABC) on 5.1 digital.
I pays to do a new channel search every few months to find new ones added in your viewing area. Stations will try to remind people to do a new search if they add channels, but people will miss the notice.---snip
There is a whole new generation of encoders either just out, or coming that will allow stations to stack even more channels up without degradation of the existing HD primaries, and in fact they look better than the encoders they replace. It's now possible to run 2ea. 1080HD and 3 stacked SD on the same carrier (this is my day job..)
Often the stations will say nothing about the additional services since they are paying customers (ION, GetTv, Antenna, Bounce, etc.) and we are simply renting spectrum space to, them not promoting essentially competition, unless they pay for the advertising. So the only way to find them is to scan.
