Jeff, I suppose the electric company, who also only drop one line, will start charging a monthly fee for every elec device in the house. Even better for enterprise, I then get charged 2 use fees for the TV.
SO... The cable carriers have always wanted to tariff each TV in the house since they really have no way to meter its use without literally monitoring each box use and habits.
