Some bases have a small black plug that you can remove to allow the spray into the base as well. Spray a bit, rotate, a bit more, rotate, last shot. Rotate several times to spread it around. If you don't have the little plug use the extension nozzle to spray between the base and the rotational plate in the same way.
Do this at least once per year but twice is better.
It does make a nice difference, I can report.
