One tip... when we bought our RV the Wineguard batwing didn't work. In fact, I couldn't even figure out which of the bunch of coax cables stuffed behind the tv area connected to it. So just to see if I could see any HDTV stations I cut a 7" long piece of #22 wire and stripped the end and stuck it into the antenna connector of the (new) HDTV and did a scan. It found a dozen stations. So I knew that the TV worked. All that was left was to troubleshoot the antenna system.
Which I still haven't bothered to do... the 7" piece of wire works great. LOL
