These low power transmitters allow for towns to get channels from larger cities (for a fee) and have a range of around 27 miles (can vary from around 13 miles to about 40 miles dependent on license). With my second adjustable amplifier allowing for up to 20 dBs I can double the range for getting these signals. The above site can make it easier locate these (translator) transmitters.
Wow, as I recall, Spirit Lake is hours from the Cities. I cannot understand why a tourist magnet like New Orleans does not use regional towers reaching people who live within a half day's driving range to hawk its 'tourist info' channel. Might inspire some bored folks in central LA and southern MS and AL to up and take a trip.
