Acronis True Image is the best package I have ever used and I have it on five computers. It has worked for me for the past four years..
ATI would be my second choice. However, if you can find a copy of Ghost use it. Ghost is also a Imaging type software, it makes a image of your drive, thus it is very simple to restore from this image and return your hard drive to its exact state.
I use Ghost to backup my "C" drive daily. And since I try out a number of program each month. I often restore my "C" drive -- maybe as often as ever 3 - 4 weeks. Never had a problem.
Three years ago I used Acronis and had problems restoring my complete system to my "C" drive. I understand that they have improved it since them.
For my data files on drive "F", I use Genie. I like it because it is a "file backup" not a Imaging backup. It works well with backing up and restoring files, but not so good at restoring a full system disk.
You may ask why not use Ghost for my data files. Simple, when you defrag a drive and them make a incremental Ghost backup, Ghost will backup ALL sectors of the HD that have changes. This is most of the HD. Genie will only back up the files that have changes since the last backup and does not depend on where on the HD the data is located.
