  • About 3 years ago, I hooked my Android phone to a monitor via an HDMI cable and attached mouse and keyboard via USB. It worked pretty good, I could surf the web, send email and even work on spreadsheets and other Office documents, no reason why this shouldn't work.
  • A $30 Raspberry Pi2 B does this and runs different Linux distros. Full graphic desktop and open source software that is compatible with Windows file formats. There is a version of Android OS available and also a Win 10 non-graphical OS for development projects. Add a keyboard, mouse, any HDTV or monitor. Is network capable with full internet access - has four USB slots. All the size of a deck of cards.
  • The remix has hardware h.265 decoding for video, something the Pi does not. Also, by the time you add a power supply, case and storage the Pi will cost close to $50 compared to $30 for this device.

I would say if you're a hobbyist or a tinkerer either device would suffice, but if you're not then the Pi is probably not for you.
