Removing th ASK Toolbar?

Apparently, when I downloaded something, ASK TOOLBAR hitchhiked in on the download. In the Control Panel, when I click on it to uninstall, the UNISTALL BUTTON disappears. I hope I don't have to download another program to get rid of it.

What you did was go to settings on Internet Explorer, go to Internet Options and change the initial website your browser goes to when it opens.

This is one of the things that the Ask toolbar and many other malware programs do is take over your browser by changing your initial web page. It is important to understand how to do this but you only corrected one of the side effects of installing the Ask toolbar. It did not have any effect on the Ask toolbar if it is installed on your PC.

Here is a good article on the Ask toolbar.

Isnt that just what I did? I went to options and changed the website.
    Am I missing something.

Yes, you still have the Ask toolbar doing whatever the toolbar does, probably nothing that will benefit you. You've just changed the homepage. Better to remove the toolbar completely.

Did you read the article I put a link to??? You have to read the whole article (5 pages) to get to how to remove the Ask toolbar completely.
