Removing th ASK Toolbar?

Apparently, when I downloaded something, ASK TOOLBAR hitchhiked in on the download. In the Control Panel, when I click on it to uninstall, the UNISTALL BUTTON disappears. I hope I don't have to download another program to get rid of it.

Well, it does ASK you, if you watch very carefully and don't blink. I've seen it packaged with several reputable(?) programs. That's one of the reasons to always do a "Custom" install: that stuff will show up and you can deselect it.

  • Did you recently update JAVA? It comes as an option if you don't uncheck it to install. Nonetheless, ASK is considered a browser hijack by some, not just a toolbar.

Check out his article to remove it How to Remove the Ask.com Toolbar From Your Browser.

If you still cannot uninstall it, you can try doing a System Restore to an earlier date. Or download and run this program which does not have to be installed AdwCleaner. Run a Scan then do a Clean.
