Rogue program sucking up bandwidth?

My data usage seems to be "over the top." Is there an application that can catch a program that is using a lot of this usage? Just increased my Verizon usage to 7GB and I'm almost at this limit with 14 days to go to the end of this period. The iPhone with 4G is great but I'm thinking there is a rogue program is sucking up a ton of bandwidth. Thanks.

  • You don't say what phone you're using so it's hard to say where to look for your usage...if it's an Android platform, click 'Settings', scroll to 'Data Usage', then scroll down. Your usage is listed in order, biggest first....Dennis
  • Look in Setting under Cellular and you should find a list of all apps that are allowed to use cellular data, and how much data they have used. You may find that you are the culprit... You can restrict any app you want to use wifi only for data. On this same screen you can reset all statistics so going forward you can track which apps you are using and the data usage.
  • Have you checked your detailed usage online to see when this is happening?
  • Supposedly, this app Onavo will tell you who the data hog is as well as other info.

    Hope this helps.
