Route Planning Software - Android Tablet & PC

Since 2006 (?) I have used Garmin BaseCamp to plan my RV trips on my computer. I like to be able to plan my trips on the large screen of my computer. I then transfer the routes to a Garmin StreetPilot 2720 for use inside my truck. This is working very well. The main drawback with base camp is that it is difficult to share the routes ELECTRONIC with my family members using such programs as Facebook.

Now that I am getting older my son-in-law is doing most of the driving. His truck does not have a built-in navigation system. My daughter who also travels with us has an android phone so she uses Google maps to backseat navigate. Recently as a birthday present, I was given a Samsung galaxy tablet which I’m pretty sure is android base.

I am looking to replace the Garmin StreetPilot 2720 with a new GPS(?) map program on my tablet so that I can also track in real time our travels and make up-todate changes. Any and all suggestions are welcome.

    Phones and tablets are great, but why mess with something that just simply works? If he's doing most of the driving, give him the GPS. I've used RV Trip Wizard, and still prefer BaseCamp, and a good GPS.

    Try google maps on the tablet.

    You are correct, it is Android based.

    I used Streets and trips for ten years and loved it.

    I use google maps on my phone. It is not as good as S & T was--but it is updated for free on a regular basis.

    Take a look at the Tom Tom GO app for android. Use it on my 10" lenovo tablet and my phone.

    I use TomTom Go as well. You can plan routes on the website and enter the details about your RV. IT will plan routes based on this information. You can also tweak the route. Once done the route can be synched to your mobile device.
