^^^^^^^^^Exactly. That is why I mentioned several times about needing a router if you have more than one device. If you want wireless network access, you buy a wireless enabled router.
If you only have one electrical outlet you can buy a 6-way add-on that makes that electrical outlet into 6 outlets. The router is like that add-on: you connect it to the modem and it allows you to connect other devices to it to access the internet. More accessibility because generally speaking a modem allows only 1 device to connect.
There are wireless routers that allow you to have a wireless network/access, and there are routers that are not wireless, but I don't think I'd even bother with one of those.
