Yeah, there are lots of uses for a smart phone, but none that I find I want to pay for. :) All my grown kids have smart phones, and I've watched to see that most of them use them mainly for social media. Not necessary, but since they already have to pay for them, might as well use them for something.
If you have a smart phone then you do have a data plan. If you don't want to pay for data you might as well go back to a flip phone.
