I don't think Garmin actually has anything to do with the actual maps, I'm pretty sure the maps will be the same. IMO it has more to do with how the device works with the maps.
I use a Garmin Nuvi 2539 and added my personal alerts and avoidances. My experience with the Garmin 465 made me dislike the GPS units designed to be used in RV's/trucks. It made sticking to a designated route an unpleasant experience.
I went years in my other RV using paper maps. We have a garmin auto in the car and it works fine; for what it is.
I don't normally use the routes they project, unless I'm really lost. What I like a gps for is to know where I am in the general area.
On the Nuvi, can you program in RV size info , etc? In programing in alerts and avoidances, is that directly in the gps or do you have to download info?
A newer auto gps may be the way for me to go. one with a larger screen.
