RV.net - Still the best

I have been trying new things recently on the web/ phone. So first I went into Facebook and joined a few RV groups... what a poor user experience. You spend all day scrolling through posts that are unrelated to anything you know AND then when you do hit something relevant and respond it is very hard to follow up. Plus your new posts quickly get pushed down off the page.

After FB I went over to that RVillage which looks very promising from the front end. Once logged in though the user interface is Horrible (yes with a capital H). It looks like they are emulating Facebook but in a bad way. I spent an hour on that site and got so lost and so confused I finally gave up. (and I am reasonably tech savvy)

RV.net has not changed in years but it is so user friendly and easy to search. Plus I have stepped up my "block user" on the negative posters really improving the overall experience.

Is there anything else out there that I am missing?
  • If they would just make posting pictures and attachments as easy as IRV2.com it would be perfect. Great forum with lots of knowledge.
  • Yep... RV.net

    We're still having fun,
    And you're still the one.

    X2
It seems like all the other forums use the 'same' format which is confusing at best sometimes to follow a thread, read, post, replies etc. And IMHO the Facebook ones are a complete joke.

Gotta admit compared to all the others the RV Net forum format is by far THE easiest to use, read.

  • I belong to a number of RV and auto forums. Forums are very different from Facebook. Forums were designed from the ground up for the kind of interaction we see here on rv.net. Facebook was designed to share pictures and useless bits of personal trivia between college students. That's why it doesn't work well as a serious information exchange.

While rv.net is many years behind everyone else's forum look and feel, it's been a decent resource for information and is not all that hard to search.
  • I belong to only two forums. This one and iRV2.com. Many people are on both as you see the same posts on both sites. I like the interface for rv.net as it is the same on the IPhone, IPad, and laptop. Very simple web based interface.

iRV2 has an app for the IPhone which I use sometimes as it does work a bit better on the small screen, but mostly I just use the web interface.

Both sites have their long time posters, both sites have the occasional rude rant, but for the most part are both good sources for RV information.

    Don't hear that very often.
