Holy Heck!!!!! Thank you for this post!!! I just upgraded to the S6 and this stuff was driving me crazy. The auto replace was driving me nuts and not even remotely close to what I said or typed. It was very persistent in its suggestions too. I can now keep my sanity.
For several years I've been using the Swiftykey keyboard both in my old S4 and now in my S7 rather than the Samsung one. Swiftkey is predictive like the standard one but the key difference is that it "learns" from things you have written so it knows not only the words you use, it even learns your phraseology. For example, if you are typing several messages to different people that are similar, it will suggest words from the ones you have already written. If you wanted a second email to be the same as the first it pretty much would offer you the words before you typed them. - GoostoffExplorerHoly Heck!!!!! Thank you for this post!!! - MrWizardModeratorgoto settings, accounts, add new account
then delete the old botched one
i have the verizon S4, its my new phone i got last august, not (1) yr old yet - MEXICOWANDERERExplorerBad internet. Sorry. I glanced at downtheroads tip and fixed it. The Galaxy manual is useless. it's focuses on how to connect house doorknobs with the microwave and Bluetooth toothbrushes, make them mate and sing kumbaya every Tuesday at 1:59 AM. Two hundred eighty pages of gizmo hype.
I botched my Gmail address. Think I can find a way to erase it and start fresh? No. But I can mate the AT&T phone with Verizon by waving my hand and set the ringtone to play 8-miles High. That was easy to find. - fj12ryderExplorer IIIMaybe post how you solved the problem for others who may have the same problem. Or was the "botched email address" the answer?
- MEXICOWANDERERExplorerGawd wotta clutz I am :(
I entered a botched email address for my Gmail. These gizmos are about as intuitive as freelancing a cyclotron. I spent an hour propped up in bed last night exploring bitter limits of patience and knowledge.
For me: This forum serves as a pseudo Suicide Hot Line - downtheroadExplorerOk try this:
settings> my device> language and input> samsung keyboard> turn off predictive test and turn off auto replace. - MEXICOWANDERERExplorerExtreme novice here. Gear does not list anything like that. What am I doing wrong?
BELAY LAST REQUEST. FIXED. MANY THANKA! - downtheroadExplorerGo into settings (the gear)
Go to "keyboard settings."
Turn off "predictive text."
