The Tailgater sends the power for the aiming servos out through the coax cable. So far it's working remarkably well for me. While the specs say there's a limit of 50 feet on the coax, I've often run it on 150 feet, including a junction insert. On that much cable, occasionally the aiming mechanism won't wake up, but a second ping will do the trick. Once you're aimed, image quality (SD) is exactly the same.
