I use the dishformyrv app on my phone to find a hole thru the trees when finding a good spot to set the Tailgater.
I've been using this app for about a year. It really makes things easy. Yes, these golf ball antennas are 'automatic' but knowing exactly where the satellites are located can be real beneficial if you are in a campground with lots of trees, poles, even other RVs close by.
The app uses your iphone camera to project 6 red balls, corresponding to the 3 eastern arc and 3 western arc Dish satellites, up in the sky when you point the phone towards the southern sky. Then you know a good starting point for where to set your antenna. For $5 it can save a lot of time when you are trying to shoot around a low hanging tree branch, for example.
I have a Winegard X2 but the process is the same.
