I have a winguard road trip in motion satellite dish mounted on my RV and had a dish 211K receiver. It worked fine for receiving channels while traveling. However since it was not viewable while traveling, I turned up the sound and used it as a Sirius radio. Although it worked, the sound was terrible.
I just replaced this 211 receiver with a Wally receiver with a usb Bluetooth adaptor on it. The intent is to play the receiver while traveling and pair it with my Bluetooth dash radio and since the Wally has a rf remote, I can change channels easily and have great sound on my dash radio speakers.
I have activated the Wally at home and it works fine with my home satellite dish. I just read on some forum that the Wally needs to see all 3 dish satellites. My questions are:
1. Is this true all the time or only at setup? Will losing satellites while traveling affect it?
2. Do I have to do a check switch with the Wally when I change location from home to RV? If have to do this, please advise how to do it.
1) All Dish receivers need to be able to see all 3 satellites but only seeing 1 at a time is OK (that's what domes do).
1.5) Losing satellite connection after being properly setup will not effect future use.
2) Absolutely! Follow the routine shown in your Winegard owners manual or download a copy from the Winegard site online. It is very specific and must be done exactly as described.
