Satellite Questions, (2)
couple of questions. Can I use a Dish netork dish with a directv receiver? Can I use the parts from my idle dish network dish on my Wingard Sat on the RV? The LNB and the dish itself? Thanks

My issues is that I just got an 1996 Itasca with the Winegard installed, I can not get it to work, I got the az and elevation from the DirecTV dish pointer site, followed the directions and it was pointing exactly opposite of the DireTV dish on my home, so I think something is wrong with the installation. I pointed the Winegard to match the orientation of my home dish, and could never get a signal.
The previous owner, second owner, never used the satellite.
I am thinking that something has failed on the Winegard. I have to test the coax, but since I have a Dish network dish at home, thinking that I could use some parts from it to put on the Winegard, starting with the LNB.
So, there is something proprietary about the satellite antennas that will not let you cross use, is that correct?
I was thinking that actual dish was not the key, but the receiver and the card.
