Satellite service possibilities

Becoming Fill-timers we are overwhelmed with the new aspects we are learning about. We are completely stumped with setting up TV service. We have 2 HD TVS. Is it possible to have a roof mounted satellite service that supports watching different programs on each of the TVs? Now if possible, greed sets in; is it possible to have a DVR connected to only one of the HD TV's to record a program while watching a different program on the same tv? Type of equipment (roof mounted satellite); reveiver(s) and DVR we hope there are answers out there in the fill time community.

Thank-you for any information and/or experience.

Looking forward to pulling out of Arizon to begin journey to Maine and Nova Scotia in a few weeks.

May you all enjoy a wonderful weekend.

  • All good answers. Just remember, these roof top Sat dishes for the RV are for stopped and stationary ONLY. You cannot do this and what you want with a DOME or a In motion Dome. Doug
  • Sure can and more. Good info here and you could go with any sat service provider (Dish or Direct) you wish. Camping World can install them for you.

I've used the same dishes for both Directv and Dish network except they are mounted on a portable stand. Get all the exact same channels and can use the same receivers I have at home.
  • Yes, it's all possible. We have Direct TV with Winegard Traveler rooftop dish system. Since we have Direct TV at home, for $6.50 additional per month we have an H 24 DVR that will record 2 shows or record one while we watch another.

In our case, with only one receiver, we must watch the same satellite program on all 3 TVs. For different programs, other TVs can watch cable, over the air, or DVD.

If we wanted to pop for an additional receiver, we could watch different satellite programs on different TVs.
  • You can do all that with directv. Depends on your RV how you route signals to each tv. For instance on my 2016 Winnebago I have two dvr's and can watch either on any of the three Tv's. So I can watch one thing and record three shows at the same time.
