no, you weren't. what you bought was a TV antenna, true, bit it is neither HD nor digital. both of those attributes are functions of the receiver. a 25-yr old *intact* 75-ohm television antenna with new coax will easily receive HDTV signals.
Are you serous, yes in a way your right but they still call it a HDTV Digital antennae..

(sigh). it matters not what they call it. amplification DOES matter. design of the receiving elements DOES matter but neither of those things have anything to do with digital or HDTV. to call what you bought an AMPLIFIED TV antenna is accurate but that's all.
