You can record streaming just the same, have you ever streamed TV, you can watch what you want at anytime you want and most of it is commercial free and many of the channels are free.
please elaborate - how to I "record" a live stream, without using an antique like a vcr ... I have AT&T's cheapest streaming tier, and most of it is only stream live, not on-demand. - rk911ExplorerTV was gonna kill theatres. VHS & Betamx was gonna kill theatres. now streaming is not only gonna kill satellites but theatres as well. i'm not holding my breath but if it does then we'll adjust.

As someone that has traveled extensively throughout the country, I can attest access to the internet isn't widely available in many areas, especially in areas where we tend to go camping.
.
Satellite TV will not stay open for just a few RV'ers and what few live outside internet service in rural areas..
If the trend continues at 250,000 or more dropping off every 3 months how long do you suppose they can keep there doors open..
I travel in many remote areas and have found internet in many areas, internet is growing monthly in areas there was no internet, its only a matter of time till satellite TV throws in the towel and realize the future for them is dead..

You say a few?
"...approximately 19 million Americans—6 percent of the population—still lack access to fixed broadband service at threshold speeds. In rural areas, nearly one-fourth of the population —14.5 million people—lack access to this service. In tribal areas, nearly one-third of the population lacks access."

What you don't understand is in those areas internet is coming and its growing monthly while satellite TV is shrinking monthly, do you really think satellite TV will stay open all the way down to less than a million customers, no they wont even go that far, look how the big companies operate, when the money starts to dry up and the future looks bleak they cut and run, just like Kmart, Sears, JC Penny, Toys are Us and many hundreds more..
The CEO's and major stock holders get out before it bankrupts and they take large bonuses while walking out the door..
Don't be fooled by those numbers..
:C - Bill_SatelliteExplorer IIDon't listen to the noise. Wait, sorry, do as you please. No one posting nonsense here is going to have any effect on those of us who require satellite internet service. I blocked timmac from further PM BS but no one can stop him from posting his rants here. He knows just about nothing about the future of satellite TV. The posters on You Tube know just about as much about the future of satellite TV as timmac.
Satellite TV is NOT going to go by the wayside in the next 2 years. If you believe that every car on the road will be self-driving in the next 2 years then I suspect you will believe timmac that satellite TV will be gone in 2 years.
Sigh! - timmacExplorerAother plus with Amazon TV is about 2 movies per month that are in threaters you can watch at home for less than going to the threater..
Soon all movies in threaters will be streamed at home at the same time for about the same price as 2 tickets, also the popcorn at home is a lot cheaper and no tall noisy person sitting in front of you..
Cant do that with satellite..

This whole web cast is about "Direct TV NOW" Not there satellite service. So what numbers of the satellite customers did they gain or lose? To me it is not Apples to Apples Just saying.
Its Both, Direct TV is trying the streaming part cause there satellite customers are dropping off like fly's by the thousands monthly, they cant even compete with other streaming channels cause of there lame content..
Netflix, Amazon, Sling, YouTube and YouTube TV and many others dominate the streaming channels..
Even Walmart is thinking of going with there own streaming channel and no one can compete with there prices..
Wake up and smell the coffee folks, don't invest in new satellite equipment cause its going Bye Bye.. - timmacExplorerYou dont need 5G for internet, 4G works just fine and its almost everywhere now..
Wake up and smell the coffe folks, dont invest in new satellite equimpment unless the wind blew yours away, cause satellite TV is about to go Bye Bye by end of 2022..

I made a prediction on January 2019 that satellite TV will be gone in 2 years, looks like I might be right..
Direct TV just lost 267,000 customers in 3 months and the CEO wants to still raise prices and lower the channels..
Better get yourself a good internet connection for your RV..

Not sure why you felt like you needed to PM me about the incorrect information you are posting to the forum, but as I mentioned to you privately, I don't really care.
Check back with us in 2 years and you will find that we are all still getting service from DTV and DISH.
I doubt 5G will even be fully in place in 2 years but it will take 5G at a minimum to be able to fully utilize the services folks are "planning" to make available. However, by the time 5G rolls out our demand will be so high that it will become just as overloaded and everyone will be demanding 6G.
