Could also be trees that get wet and droop in your dishes view of the Sat.
The cable provider has the same problem where they receive the signal. But they also have larger dishes.

Was this a professional install? You shouldn't be losing it more than maybe a few times in a year due to the worst rain and clouds. It's called "rain fade." Also, the installer should make sure it's securely anchored from wind.

No, there nothing you can do other than make sure the bird has a clear view of the southern sky.

location is everything haha... When we was running SAT TV we always seem to go the same places so tried to get the same good camping spot everytime... seemed to help. Then sometimes it would just drop out for no obvious reason... I always blamed it on my old SAT RCVR..

I never played with The newer auto ones. See alot of them on trailers so must work pretty good.

When the NATL BROADCAST went digital we just sort of stopped bring the SAT STUFF along with us. The Natl Broadcast 6-36 digital channels was full blown high def TV anyway where our SAT TV was just regular TV. We eventually just let the DIRECTV SAT subscription expire on us...

Some parts of Florida have been unusually rainy this year. I'd say it was the rain. If it's raining to the south of you, it can impair the signal. Usually passes pretty quickly tho.

Mine drops out a lot more then I thought it would.I checked the installation of the sattelite and its mounted securely to the house. Works great when the weather is good.If I known it would go out so often I would have kept cable in the house,and got a pay per use for the camper.I was hoping there was some type of booster that could be added.

Only the worst of very heavy rain or very dark clouds will cause my satellite to go out, but then for only a minute or so. Call the company that installed it and have them check it out. You should not loose signal very often.

What is your signal strength when its working well?? It doesn't take much misalignment to cause problems.

You might check with your neightbors to see if theirs also goes out. IF you can, go into Menu, Settings and tell us what the signal meters are showing.

We moved into a new house last year and had new service installed, we also noticed every time three drops of rain fell the signal would go out. I checked the signal meter and it was not that strong so we did call Dish to come back out and correct, the original installer left fasteners loose and did not have it aligned to get the strongest signal, they re-pointed it and tightened everything down and it has been fine since.
I knew enough to know that it should not lose signals as much as it had because we had Dish at our last house with a lot less problems, plus my experience with setting up the portable dish while camping I soon learned the lower the signal strength the quicker it would go out if the weather was bad.
Since you just had it installed call them to send someone back out and get it corrected. If they cannot get a clear line of sight from your property you should be able to be released from the contract as well.

I have directv at home and in the RV. On both systems there is some drop out, and it is more then I experienced with cable. But it took very heavy rain and might cause a minute or two drop out, and sometimes longer as the leading edge of a strong thunderstorm rolled in. Otherwise I have never lost signal, even after significant snow falls.
