Assuming you do not want to wake up the campground,, Just yoruself.
many places including Radio Shack sell small self-installed home alarm ssytems.. often these systems use magnetic reed switches.. This is the same kind of switch used to extend the steps on a motor home by the way.
You attach the magnet (Tape and/or screws) to the door, and the switch to the frame, so long as they are right close (Door closed) the switch is in one state (the non-normal one) but if the door is opened and the magnet moved the switch switches to the "resting" state (normally open or normally closed) and the alarm sounds.
if you do not wish to buy the entire expensive system you will need the follwoing.
A simple noise maker (Sonalert) type device or Phizo Electric Buzzer, 12 volt
a pair of the switches (Radio shack sells them switch and magnet together, on a card) NORMALLY OPEN should be the correct type I think
Some wire
Wire the switches in parallel Then wire the Noise maker in series, it goes in YOUR bedroom
12 volt +---Toggle Switch---Noise maker---Switches---Ground (negative)
Notes: The toggle is so you can turn it off (don't forget to turn it back on)
Note: If child figures out to cut or disconnect wires it will not work.. The "Systems" often use normally closed switches (Switch follows door) so if the wires are cut it alarms.. But there is a way to override those too if you know how, which of course I do, but .. well, not sure on a child and you can make it hard by coating screws with GOOP adheasive.
