Selling on Ebay question?

Well, you can specify in shipping that it is local pickup only, and you can specify cash only, but a deposit can be paid with paypal within 48 hours of winning...Covers your butt from screwy bidders.

Try selling it on Craigslist. I've sold a car and a motorcycle on there with no problems. Both local sales and sold within a few days.

It's hard to deal with ebay and not use paypal. It seems that 90%+ of people selling on ebay require the use of paypal.

E-bay tries to be as much about protecting the buyer as the seller- electronic payment systems like Paypal help with both.

I've tried, but since Ebay bought Paypal I can't find a way to specify "Cash Only" either. They really want people to use Paypal. Seems like I read at one time they won't allow the "Cash Only" option anymore.

I have purchased 1000's of items through ebay. Wouldn't consider without paypal and the protection it offers.

If this is your first ebay listing you may have trouble getting the top exposure with basically a zero rating.

Otherwise go all in or don't bother.

You can stipulate any terms you like in the listing including all cash and pick up only. Although I would require $400 through paypal within 72 hours as a deposit or no deal.

Set a time with limited hours to show the item in person with the auction then ending within 24 hours. ie list on Sunday, show on Saturday, listing closes that Sunday 7 days after starting.

For local sales, I'd just use Craigslist.

I disagree. Ebay is about 1 thing and 1 thing ONLY. Collecting maximum sales commissions. Pay Pal is owned by Fleabay and will not do anything for you if Fleabay rules against you.

There are a million Fleabay and PayPal scams. Sell it Craigslist and cash only.
