FYI - using Sling WiFi technology to watch programs "over the Internet" doesn't use any broadband data. Sling is like Apple's Airplay which also streams video directly between two devices without using broadband data.---snip---
Data is data, and I guarantee the ISP is billing for any and all of it. Set your data meter, run any streaming device you choose and look at it again in 30 mins.
Also anyone streaming that kind of data (streaming multiple GB of streaming data) on a grandfathered plan will likely find themselves looking for a new carrier when they get canceled.
Not so with Sling / DISH Anywhere streaming (and AirPlay for that matter).
From DISH Tech Support:
The Internet is used when you first access dishanywhere.com or the app on your mobile device to log into the app or website. Once logged into the app or dishanywhere.com, the traffic is streamed locally on your home network and continues locally while the session is active.
