Sending large files

wow, maybe you guys should hire a armored truck as well. 2 factor authentication with data destruction in case of the wrong password attempts.

if this data is as sensitive as you guys are making it out. this is most definitely not the place to be asking this question

The best thing is if both the sender and receiver had PGP or GnuPG keys. Second best is communicating a password via phone, E-mail, or other secure channel, and using WinRAR to encrypt the file before sticking it up somewhere for transfer.

Even if emailing via DVDs, it is wise to encrypt the files and send the password or encryption key via another channel, so if someone wants the contents in the file, they have to intercept both the password and the file.

Really? With the NSA sucking up every bit of data including emails and attachments and phone calls and text message, you are worried about Hightail?

If you want to attempt to have data security you will want to upload it to your own FTP server in an encrypted form and then snail mail the recipient as to the information needed to un-encrypt the files or better yet mail them the data on DVD's or a small 2.5" hard drive.

X2, once you are set up there is an option to "share". It will give you a unique URL that you can forward. All the other person has to do is click on the URL to the Dropbox folder. They do not need a Dropbox account.

That is what the public folder is for or you can use sharing. You will have to go to the DB site to enable the Public folder. You can even use your public folder for displaying pics here.

Dropbox as well. I have used it for personal and business when I need to move a large file. You just set permissions and send links to the folder so others can access the file and download it. Quick and easy.

I do use dropbox for exchanging data between my various devices but I guess I don't know how to send it to people not on my home network. I must be missing something. I do like dropbox and have used it a lot but only between my own devices. As far as security, I don't plan to send personal stuff but I am still concerned about it.
