I pay $10/mo for an account with myfax.com. I don't know how many free faxes I get but I've never gone over the $10. I find it helpful to have a designated fax number I can refer people to. There are still some circumstances in which entities do not accept emailed copies of documents. I use it a few times a month and I don't think $10 is too much to pay for the convenience.
