Severe weather alerts via text message to cellphone?

I was wondering if there is any sort of severe weather alert service and/or app for a smartphone (android). I'm looking for something that would provide alerts for specific gps coordinates or maybe by...

One of my Motorola Droids on the Verizon network through PagePlus came with Accu-Weather widget pre-installed. It actually startled the you know what out of me tonight, as the phone was on stand by, but wailed an alert tone for severe weather flash flood warnings in my area. May want to look into the Accu-Weather app/widget.
