Shopping Camper World...shipping is outrageous!

I would shop Camping World more, BUT...
Camping World shipping prices are outrageous compared to nearly every other camping retail store, or Amazon, Ebay, etc...

Why?

Too bad, because I can buy the same items for the same price (or lower) without the exhorbant shipping costs. So why shop Camping World?
  • So, I want to buy a few simple things:

    two dinette drawers:

    two drink holders:

    One knife safe:

    Total cost of items: $80.81

    SHIPPING IS $62.00!!!!!!!

Yes, I'm in Anchorage AK, so what. I buy and have stuff shipped all the time and have never, ever paid these kind of rates.

I ordered a 25-28' RV cover, which weighed somewhere around 30lbs and it only cost me $29.00.

Synergy, how expensive is it? I have a list of stuff that I need to order and its really not that bad when I consider the time and the fuel. AND my buddy gave me the name " Cheap B - - - - - d".

    Because you're in Alaska?

Hold on.....I just fell out of my chair. :)

Yeah, I'm in Anchorage Alaska, so what. I order stuff all the time, from ebay, Amazon, other RV sources, etc...

I ordered an RV cover weighing more than 30 lbs...cost $29.00 shipping, got it in 8 days.
When I priced Camping World, they wanted $116.00 shipping!!!!!!!

    RIP OFF!!! IT's that simple.
  • Simple... Stop buying from CW. They sound like the ebay sellers. You buy a product at what you think is a decent price, then they make up for the price by gouging with S/H charges. Just don't buy into it. When their sales go down, they will look into why. If they ask you, tell them!
  • Just bought 2 add a drawers on Amazon, $43.94............ FREE SHIPPING!!!!!!
  • Oh ok. Yeah thats hard to take at #62.00. Being in Alaska I would expect to pay more but like other said I would have to check out other sources.

The shipping is very high because Camping World only ships with UPS or FedEx and they both use the air freight shipping costs. Camping World doesn't realize Alaska is really part of the U.S. and that the US Post Office does have offices here in Alaska. Most of the items you were ordering would fit in a flat rate box or two and cost about $20 each to mail. May take 3-5 days to arrive but stuff I usually order I can wait
  • Hello synergy_58,

I share Synergy 58's perspective. I look at every item in every flier but I've decided it's generally cheaper for me to drive 110 miles round trip to get an item than to pay for shipping.

I have $340.00 worth of stuff in my basket right now and they show $29.00 shipping charge. Its an hour drive and 50 miles, so its 4 gallons of fuel round trip and minimum 2 hours of drive time plus time in the store. $3.65 x4=$14.60 for fuel so that leaves $14.40 divided by 2 hours = $7.20 per hour plus miles on my car. AND I'm exposed to crackheads on the road. What kind of prices are they charging you?

It appears for the moment CW even has their shipping on sale. Here's an example of why I don't pay their original shipping fee along with their "shipping on sale" (my term) price. In the online ad, the $21.00 figure is shown with a strike-through font.

    "Summit Chair -- Catalog Item # 69705
    Internet SALE
    $47.99 SAVE $5.50

    Reg $53.49
    Shipping : Add $21.00 $9.00"

New fee is less than 1/2 the regular fee. Maybe someone at CW is listening.
