I have found no correlation between price and performance for inverters in the 40 Watt and higher power range. Check on Amazon and B&H Photo and other places where owners reviews are shown and see which ones have provided the best service.
Some of the smaller ones lack adequate heat sinks and fins and will overheat and shutdown and others rely on very noisy fans which make listening to a TV very unpleasant.
The ones we have bough for use with laptops have more than enough capacity for a DVD player and small LCD TV.
