I know I suggested voice dictation as a faster way of entering data than a glass-keyboard, but the original poster subsequently replied that would not be a possibility in rather definite terms.
Others have commented on the suitability of physical mini-keyboards internal to smartphones and their limitations and disadvantages.
Some might find the use of a bluetooth mini-keyboard beneficial. This is an example of one that I tried on an Android phone:
