First of all, I hope you never did a defrag on the SSD as you should never do that ever.
Info on SSD reliability is as good as regular hard drives. You might be one of the 2 percenters that went bad.
I would hope there was an extra hard drive in the laptop. That is where the info needed to reinstall the OS is kept or should be and be a place to keep your data/picture files.
I would have liked to seen the warranty for the SSD. It should be about 5 years or more.
