Stereo Swap Out Question?

I'd like to swap out the cheap Jensen stereo unit in my Jayco for a car audio unit such as linked below.

http://www.crutchfield.ca/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=158XAV65&Show=ExtInfo

How do I overcome the Parking Brake feature quoted below? Any other advice will be greatly appreciated.

"Parking Brake Detection: To prevent the displaying of video while the vehicle is in motion, the light green wire in the supplied 16-pin harness must be connected to the vehicle's parking brake detection circuit. Video can only be displayed when the vehicle's parking brake is engaged. While the vehicle is in motion (parking brake off), you can still view source information, song/artist information, and menus."

  • Try in this order: don't connect the wire, hook it to ground, or hook it to 12 volt +. I'm not sure which it wants. It shouldn't be hard to figure out.

Just to clarify my mod....I have a Jayco Eagle TT that has a Jensen stereo in the cabinet that I'd like to take out and replace with a reasonable quality car audio unit. Would require hooking up the 4 speakers in the trailer roof and hopefully get the DVD to play through the TV.
  • get a double-throw switch 'SPDT' and tuck it under your dash somewhere. put one pole of the switch to +12v, put the other pole to a nearby metal screw (ground) and the common lead goes to this light-green parking brake wire.

    toggle the switch as needed.
  • Most (>90%) of car DVD players play just fine when the parking brake lead is grounded (yes that's all!). There are a few exceptions so do a little goggling to get the final info on the unit you pick.
