casting is a one way wireless connection, video stream to tv from your phone or tablet etc
I was wondering how the Chrome cast sends data. What I did notice was I had to have the TV connected to the hotspot so phone and TV on same WIFI (I'm assuming phone is router at this point). If I don't do that, can't cast. Same if connecting over home wifi, both phone and TV must be connected on home wifi. On initial set-up of Chrome cast, I used blue tooth but that doesn't seem to matter as far as casting goes. If there's another channel, what the heck is it...doggone confusing....but it's working.
