Yes. I "cast" from my phone, so no wires.
I use YouTubeTV (love it) and I get my local channels when I am traveling.
I have a smart TV that has chromecast built in, but you can buy the chromecast adapter for $35 or so. Works like a charm.
I have a Sprint cell account with 50gb of hotspot date per phone. Have been from the mountains to the coast and watched TV everywhere.
Good luck
This may be the best way to go yet. Must your phone screen stay on while casting to the tv also?
You can use your phone for other things while casting.
Casting as in the Google Chromecast service, yes you can multitask or turn off the phone.
Casting as in using "wireless display", "lg connect", "miracast" or other screen mirroring apps, they tie up the phone and directly copy the phone screen to the television
