SWM system problem connecting
This is about DirecTV services.
I'm fairly confident that re-doing the coax cables on my trailer's roof for my SWM system up there that connects my 'Traveler' sat dish to my GENIE receiver inside will solve the problem. I've done troubleshooting before.
However, I've always worked inside. The coax up on my roof looks slightly corroded, and the rubber sleves protecting the connections are falling apart. After three years, only.
So, I have my work cut out for me. My question;
Should I clean the SWM system component ports before installing the four new 2' coax I'm buying?
I realize now that the rubber grommets aren't sufficient. Should I also use silicone sealant? I think I probably should, so I should put it on AFTER the new grommets, right? Or should I put the silicon on, then squish the rubber grommets on? Or what?
Also, If I should clean everything, I'm thinking 'Electronic Cleaner' sprayed in the holes before attaching the coax, then let it dry.
Comments?
