  • And the Sprint/T-Mobile merger rumors are rampant again. My contract ends next month. I think I'm paying somewhere in the $80 range right now. I like Verizon's coverage because it does work well when I camp in remote places. But since I am now retired I have to look at costs constantly. I could get a flip phone and go with Consumer Cellular or Smart Talk. But I'm spoiled since I have a smartphone.

I can't speak to the coverage map as most are wildly optimistic if not downright misleading; but I do know that in my part of Maryland they only work if you get close to Baltimore or DC. Does their map show coverage for 4g, 3g, data or does it include voice and 2x.

Thats always my concern as well... We live 60 miles out of Washington DC and only Verizon works here where I live. Any other carrier you have to do a 'GREEN ACRES ROUTINE" and go outside to climb a pole to use the phone...

It does look like AT&T I think it is is getting better with USA coverage. Sprint is really bad here at the house.

Maybe there is something from the Ancient Alien World buried close-by here blocking the signals...

I sure am getting tired of the higher cost for Verizon service. Also hearing that Verizon is now doing another round of trying to thin out us old timers with grandfathered perks.

  • After many years with T mobile we left them due to inconsistant service away from home. They always had excuses and promises of better coverage on the way. Never happened. Went to Sprint. Better.
  • Hi donn0128,

Have a look at the coverage map. The only state that has poor coverage is Montana.
  • Still only useful for larger metropolitan areas. TMobile just does not have coverage where the majority of RVers want to camp.
