I have friends who are amature musicians who are wanting a Tablet to put their written music/songs on to use at their performances rather than on paper. She was asking me to help her watch for a good deal for them for Christmas. I really don't know any bands to watch for that will do what she wants & not break the bank. We were discussing my iPad mini but determined it's screen would be too small & she could get something larger & less expensive if she went with a brand other than Apple. I would think battery life would be fairly important so it would last thru their performances. Suggestions?

Rare to find musicians who read, except at the symphony. I'd use a laptop.

I did a search for "laptops used by professional musicians to read sheet music" and got many results...give that a try.

iPad is really the standard for this application. I just bought a refurb iPad 3, 64 gb, Verizon 3G (I don't use that), for $220 on sale, but normal for a refurb is still under $300.

Most music producers and musicians use MAC computer products. Like the MAC Book Pro http://www.apple.com/macbook-pro/I have a Video production company and sometimes edit/record music for my customers. I have always used PCs mostly because they are cheaper than the MAC products and so far have met my needs. It's really the software or music editing App that is important so they will need a good laptop, computer or tablet but also a good music editing software. There are some free editing software programs that can be downloaded from the internet.I purchased and use SoundForge by Sony. It's a little tough to learn but is very robust for professional editing and music production.

for tabletslook LG, Acer, Asusthese have really good display screenscome in 10 inch sizes or largerand have excellent battery life, like 10 hours
